Job Overview

The Medical Records Transcriptionist and Data Entry Specialist will be responsible for transcribing radiology reports from dictated recordings and managing patient records. This role requires a strong understanding of radiology terminology and procedures, as well as excellent typing skills and attention to detail. The successful candidate will be able to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain confidentiality and compliance with all legal and ethical standards related to patient information and medical records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transcribe radiology reports from dictated recordings and canned reports, including mammograms, ultrasounds, MRI, and other imaging modalities, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Update patient records with breast density, follow-up dates, surgical follow-ups, and physical charts, ensuring timely and precise documentation to support patient care.
  • Review and edit drafts for clarity, accuracy, and grammar, adhering to departmental and industry standards, and collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to clarify dictation and ensure completeness of reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all legal and ethical standards related to patient information and medical records, prioritizing and managing workload effectively to meet transcription deadlines and turnaround times.
  • Stay updated with medical terminology and advancements in radiology to enhance transcription accuracy, and participate in ongoing education and training to improve skills and knowledge.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a medical transcriptionist, specifically in radiology, with a strong understanding of radiology terminology and procedures.
  • Proficiency in transcribing medical dictation using transcription software and word processing tools, with excellent typing skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of medical ethics, confidentiality standards, and regulatory requirements related to healthcare documentation, with strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with radiologists and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently, with a certification or diploma in medical transcription or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems is necessary, with a strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail in documentation.
