3rd–4th Grade Culinary & Nutrition Curriculum
Description:
Wiz Kids Foundation is seeking a creative and knowledgeable curriculum designer to develop a 6–8 week Culinary & Nutrition curriculum for 3rd–4th grade campers (ages 8–10). The curriculum should blend hands-on food preparation with age-appropriate nutrition education, helping campers build kitchen confidence, explore healthy eating habits, and engage in simple recipe-based projects.
Scope of Work:
Develop 6–8 weeks of lesson plans (4 days per week, 45–60 minutes per session).
Each lesson should include: Objective, Materials, Teacher Actions, Student Actions, and Closure/Reflection.
Incorporate engaging, safe cooking activities appropriate for this age group (no stovetops/open heat).
Integrate key nutrition concepts such as balanced meals, food groups, vitamins/minerals, hydration, and mindful eating.
Include simple recipes, tasting activities, food science connections, and weekly hands-on projects.
Provide a culminating activity or showcase (e.g., mini “food festival” or recipe booklet).
Ideal Candidate:
Background in nutrition, culinary arts education, food science, or youth cooking programs.
Experience designing engaging curriculum or lesson plans for elementary-aged children.
Understanding of safety protocols for cooking with children.
Ability to teach nutrition concepts in a clear, fun, and relatable way.
Deliverables:
Editable document (Google Docs or Word).
6–8 weekly outlines with 4 daily lessons each.
Recipes, materials lists, visual aids (if applicable), and optional modifications.
