Producer - The Nest

Key Responsibilities Daily Management: • Oversee the daily management of The Nest, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of the space. • Co-ordinate and manage the scheduling of performances, events, rehearsals and community activities. • Work alongside The Nest Technical Manager and Front of House staff to ensure the successful delivery of The Nest programme. • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations. • Ensure that The Nest operates within the Theatre Green Book standards for buildings, operations and productions, and aligns with CFT’s Environmental Policy. Financial Management: • Alongside the Executive Director and Finance and Commercial Director; manage the budget for The Nest, including forecasting, monitoring expenditures and ensuring financial sustainability. • Collaborate with the Development team to secure funding and sponsorships when required. Programme Development: • Support the creation and implementation of a diverse range of programming and events... both day and night modes, to engage a variety of audiences. • Alongside the Artistic Director, Associate Directors and Creative Associate (the artistic team), develop and promote innovative programming that aligns with The Nest’s mission and CFT’s overall objectives. • Draft and negotiate all necessary agreements (artist, company, rights etc). Community Engagement: • Foster relationships with local community groups, schools and other stakeholders to encourage community use of The Nest. • Draft and co-ordinate all necessary agreements relating to community hires. People: • Work collaboratively with CFT staff to deliver the aims of The Nest and CFT. • Promote a positive and collaborative working environment. Marketing and Promotion: • Support the work of the Marketing team as they develop and implement strategies for audience development, events and activities for The Nest. Monitoring and Evaluation: • Work with the project evaluator to regularly assess the performance and impact of The Nest’s activities, using data to inform future planning and development. • Provide regular reports to the Executive and Senior Leadership teams on the progress and outcomes of The Nest. Responsibilities of all Staff Members • Be aware of the work of the other departments in the achievement of CFT’s aims. • Take an active part in communicating and co-operating with other staff and departments. • Follow guidelines, procedures and policies provided by the company in relation to financial management and personnel records. • Work in accordance with the Equal Opportunities policy of CFT. • Be aware of, and comply with, the rules and legislation pertaining to Health and Safety at work. • Take part in such working groups and committees as might from time to time be required for the fulfilment of departmental and/or company aims. • Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times. • Be an active ambassador for CFT, its aims, objectives and values. • Commit to CFT’s environmental policies to reach net zero and collaborate with us in finding innovative solutions towards more sustainable theatre-making. Person Specification This job would suit someone who wants to run a festival or a community arts venue. We are looking for someone who is ambitious, has a real passion for the arts, is a regular theatre attender and has previous experience of working in the industry. Essential Criteria • Effective communication and interpersonal skills • Experience of contract negotiation • Proven experience in a venue or an arts organisation • Proven experience in venue programming • Strong financial management skills • Excellent organisational and multi-tasking abilities • A flexible approach to working and an ability to deal with fast-changing circumstances • Passion for the arts and community engagement • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends Desirable Criteria • Well networked within the industry with a keen eye for programming possibilities on the small scale • Knowledge of audience development and community outreach Producer – The Nest – JD – 09.2024 • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a performance venue context We're an Equal Opportunities employer.
