- Evaluates and determines daily staffing unit needs in collaboration with the Unit Assistant Nurse Manager, Unit Charge Nurse, and/or the Resource Team Manager. Reports to nursing leadership when staffing needs are critical.
- Assigns resource staff and other staffing resources as staffing needs dictate based on census/acuity and unscheduled absences in collaboration with the Unit Manager, Unit Charge Nurse, and/or Resource Team Manager.
- Monitors future staffing needs and coordinates with resource team to facilitate response to variable demands.
- Maintains daily staffing worksheets, logs and tracking documents as required.
- Performs an active role in disaster plan.
- Prepares medical records for new admissions and disassembles the chart and forwards to Medical Records upon patient discharge.
- Maintains proper record assembly contents in chronological order behind tabs. Prints all forms used for patients charts and scans necessary documents into patient charts.
- Answers telephone, monitors unit closed circuit camera, and intercom/door entry system in a polite manner and communicates information to the appropriate staff/family.
- Performs pre-census and validates daily admission, discharge and census lists.
- Observes patient confidentiality rules and Release of Information data
- Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs. Pages Physician as requested by RN.
- Manages supplies and inventory as requested by unit.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and in writing.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Competent in computer office software.
- Competent in use of office equipment.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and adaptability. Skilled in conflict management and resolution.
- Previous administrative assistant or staffing coordinator experience.
- Associates Degree
