Staff Accountant - Property & Casualty
Description:
• Complete Direct Bill and Agency Bill reconciliations, and post Direct Bill statements to client accounts
• Review and process Producer commission statements and outside broker commission statements
• Handle Direct Bill Download from carrier websites where applicable
• Monthly reconciliation of bank account activity to ensure all direct bill commissions received have been posted to the general ledger
• Manage electronic deposits for operating and escrow accounts
• Handle all facets of multiple property and casualty agency accounting functions on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Monitor and review accounts receivable, notifying Account Managers of past due balances
• Refund clients for return premiums and overpayments
• Record and confirm journal entries provided from Agency Growth Team (AGT) team
• Pay all operating expenses as well as all carrier, broker, and vendor invoices
• Generate Monthly Balance Sheet and Income Statement
• Execute End of Day, End of Month and End of Year Balance Sheet and Income Statement
• Analyze and comment on monthly revenue and expense fluctuations as directed by supervisor
• Various other ad hoc responsibilities as required
Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field
• 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience working in a P&C insurance brokerage environment
• Working knowledge of Applied EPIC and Hawksoft insurance agency management system is preferred
• Prior experience with Business Central accounting software is preferred
• Proficiency in usage of Microsoft Office Suite tools
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to travel to various partner agencies locations as needed (expectation is minimal)
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in future
