Sr Product Cost Engineer, Amazon Custom Modules

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to drive success in our Amazon Custom Modules team, working remotely from our office. As a Senior Product Cost Engineer, you will play a critical role in building detailed cost models, benchmarking component costs, and supporting live negotiations with suppliers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, to deliver the highest standards for safety, security, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build detailed should-cost models across different electro-mechanical products (e.g., PCBAs, mechanical server chassis) for new products and products in production
 - Drive excellence throughout the should-cost modeling execution and establish mechanisms to scale and streamline across similar products
 - Conduct should-cost training and coach junior cost engineers
 - Own the Should-Cost Strategy and be 'customer-obsessed' while being independent enough to fully identify the appropriate value capture path
 - Influence and serve as an expert to aid in design for cost/value and improve product cost, manufacturing cost, and integration cost
 - Play a critical, technical fact-base holder role in supplier negotiations
 - Travel internationally (30% or more) to visit suppliers and key functions to embed our Should-Cost approach
 
Requirements:
- BS/MS degree in a relevant technical discipline
 - 8-10 years of experience working for a technology company in product development-related functions (manufacturing, development, innovation, research, design)
 - Experience in fundamental manufacturing processes and related cost impact in mechanical (stamping, machining, welding, molding, etc.) or PCB and PCBA
 - Professional knowledge of cost modeling methods and tools
 - Strong communication and presentation skills
 - Broad business knowledge to manage interactions between business disciplines
