We are seeking an exceptional technical professional with a strong background in software engineering and people management to lead our team as a Software Development Manager. As a key member of our Amazon Fulfillment Technologies team, you will oversee the development of large-scale distributed systems that power Amazon's global fulfillment network. The successful candidate will manage a high-performing team of software development engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, build, and operate cutting-edge picking software. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall software development life cycle, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery
  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize projects, and drive technical design and approach
  • Develop and implement metrics-driven quality goals, ensuring exceptional customer experience and operational excellence
  • Hire, coach, and mentor team members, building a strong and diverse organization
  • Collaborate with a diverse customer base to understand requirements, priorities, and processes
  • Own operational metrics and support, driving continuous improvement and optimization

About Our Team:

Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) is a pioneering team that powers Amazon's global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. Our Outbound Flow team pairs data science with innovative technologies to optimize throughput within every Amazon fulfillment center, delivering smiles to our customers with safe, sustainable, and cost-effective package deliveries.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software development life cycle
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of software engineers
