Job Scope:

As a Prior Authorization Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing chemotherapy regimens, obtaining necessary pre-certifications, and researching denied services to ensure timely reimbursement. You will work closely with our nursing and medical staff to inform them of any restrictions or special requirements in accordance with insurance plans. Your expertise will help us navigate the complex world of oncology care, ensuring that our patients receive the best possible treatment.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, process, and audit medical necessity for patient chemotherapy treatments
  • Communicate with nursing and medical staff regarding insurance plan restrictions and requirements
  • Provide prompt feedback to physicians and management regarding pathway documentation issues and payer issues
  • Update coding and payer guidelines for clinical staff
  • Obtain insurance authorization and pre-certification for chemotherapy services
  • Research alternative resources for non-covered chemotherapy services
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of chemotherapy authorization requirements and regulatory guidelines

Qualifications:

  • High school degree or equivalent; Associate's degree in Healthcare preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of medical insurance verification and authorization experience
