Job Summary: As a Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorizations, you will be responsible for handling inbound calls, faxes, and electronic prior authorization (ePA) requests, providing professional and courteous phone assistance to all callers. You will maintain accurate and timely documentation, transfer clinical questions to our pharmacist team, and assist with other duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage work volume, handling inbound calls, faxes, and ePA requests with professionalism and courtesy (40%)
  • Comply with departmental, company, state, and federal requirements to ensure accuracy of information (40%)
  • Communicate with internal groups regarding determination status and results (10%)
  • Elevate clinical inquiries to the pharmacist team as needed (5%)
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including outbound calls, fax sorting, and email management (5%)

Requirements:

  • 6+ months of customer service or pharmacy technician experience
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Ability to multitask, utilize multiple system applications, and maintain confidentiality of protected healthcare information (PHI)
  • Excellent written, verbal, grammar, and listening communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing workflows and priorities
