About the Opportunity
Join American Airlines' Technology team as a Data Engineer and play a vital role in shaping the future of our operations! You'll be at the forefront of leveraging data to improve customer and employee experiences. As a key member of our Data Engineering and Analytics team, you'll design, implement, and maintain analytics solutions, making data easier and more effective for everyone.
What You'll Do
As a Data Engineer, you will:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and product owners to design and implement analytics solutions.
- Implement data migration and data engineering solutions using Azure services (Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Functions, Event Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Databricks, etc.).
- Utilize traditional data warehouse tools and perform various tasks throughout the data lifecycle – design, cloud engineering, ingestion, ETL, data modeling, testing, CI/CD pipelines, performance tuning, deployments, consumption, BI, alerting, and production support.
- Provide technical support and collaborate within a team environment, as well as work independently.
- Be part of a DevOps team that owns and supports their product, implementing batch and streaming data pipelines.
- Develop coding requirements, best practices, and privacy and security suggestions.
What You'll Need
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology, Computer Engineering, IT, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of software development experience using Agile, DevOps, and a product model focused on designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications or data engineering solutions.
- 2+ years of data analytics experience using SQL.
- 1 year of full-stack development experience, preferably in Azure.
- 1 year of cloud development and data lake experience (Microsoft Azure) including Azure Event Hub, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Functions, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Logic Apps, and Power BI.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of software development experience using Agile, DevOps, and a product version that includes designing, developing, and implementing large-scale programs or data engineering solutions.
- 2+ years of data analytics experience using SQL.
- Azure Data Stack experience for data management, data ingestion, capture, processing, curation, and consumption layers.
- Azure Development Song Certification, Spark Certification.
