Job description: This position, as an essential administrative staff in the Florida State Alliance of YMCAs, is responsible for coordination of all state-wide New Worlds Reading Initiative events and efforts. The Florida State Alliance of YMCAs is partnering with the Lastinger Center, University of Florida to administer state-wide parent and family workshops and community literacy events through local YMCAs. This includes local Y staff support and coaching, budgeting, expense control, income generation, program development and quality control, task force management and committee development, community relations, collaborations, and long-range planning, as well as overseeing the daily operations of all state-wide New Worlds Reading Initiative events. The State Director, New Worlds Reading Initiative also provides direction and leadership for the achievement of Alliance goals in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by the Board that will advance the mission of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Direct, support and administer operation of New Worlds Reading Initiative parent/family workshops and community literacy events, including developing and managing processes, staffing, evaluation of the effectiveness of the programs and operation in conjunction with local YMCAs or partners.
• Promote and monitor programs to ensure quality standards are met.
• Oversee the innovation, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of New Worlds Reading Initiative events activities and funds.
• Prepare and submit regular and reports to stakeholders and alliance board of directors
• Set, monitor and evaluate goals and priorities to promote New Worlds Reading Initiative events.
• Uses a data-driven approach to inform and identify opportunities for program improvement along with new innovative program models including programs that are delivered in branches and outside the walls of branches in community as well as manages data collection.
• Responsible for the development and oversight of operational New Worlds Reading Initiative-specific and department budgets, including monitoring and forecasting
• Collect, report, and maintain program and participant data to track program outcomes and effectiveness of new programs and strategies.
• Work directly with local YMCAs to advance statewide New Worlds Reading Initiative priorities and manage assigned grants.
• Conduct local staff/volunteer meetings to keep staff and volunteers informed of trends and changes.
• Prepare annual budget for approval by the VP of Literacy, CEO, Fiscal Agent and Board.
• Recommend adjustments and administer the budget, exercising necessary controls to ensure operations that are consistent with the goal of a balanced operational budget.
• Manage all program related expense and revenue.
• Manages grant administration, including budget management, for New Worlds Reading Initiative projects.
• Develops partnerships with community organizations, to align efforts across organizations for collective impact. Builds trust between community members, Ys, and partner agencies.
• Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies within the State of Florida.
• Assist local YMCAs in developing plans for implementing New Worlds Reading Initiative events, data tracking and alignment aimed at maximizing impact.
• Serve as a member of the Florida State Alliance of YMCAs leadership team and support the overall objectives of the YMCA movement.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, education, business or equivalent preferred.
• Candidates should possess strong leadership, supervision and interpersonal skills, with a proven record of achieving results in collaboration with others; building successful teams; and mentoring professionals, volunteers and students.
• Candidates should also have experience working within diverse groups and possess an understanding of how to create culturally inclusive and engaging environments.
• Three years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency required.
• Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development/recruitment, support of staff, development and monitoring of budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
• Candidates should have processes and systems expertise in order to build out successful operating procedures across the State.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the communities served in Florida.
• Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others through influence.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations. Strong writing, verbal and presentation skills.

• Travel across the state 30% - 40% of the time to ensure program fidelity, support programs, and conduct training, as well as attend applicable conferences.
The position is remote, but the candidate should be a Florida resident. Salary range $55,000 - $70,000, plus benefits including health insurance, paid time off, 12% employer paid retirement when eligible, 403(b) savings plan, and free YMCA facility usage. Clear criminal history and drug screening required. A commitment to Leadership Development, including money set aside for each staff member's leadership development. Paid volunteer time.
