AS400 Programmer Analyst Remote Opportunity
About the position
Responsibilities
• Application development on the iSeries/AS400.
• Programming CL and various versions of RPG including but not limited to RPG ILE, SQLRPGLE, free form.
• Maintenance of iSeries systems.
• Assumes responsibility for development and maintenance of complete systems; including requirements gathering, design, development and testing.
• Analyze, develop and maintain appropriate systems.
• Implement and maintain externally developed software applications when necessary.
• Write, debug, diagram, code, and document all appropriate programs.
• Ensure all coding complies with department standards.
• Follow change management practices and use designated source control tools.
• Evaluate cost differentials involving various systems implementations by comparing and contrasting varying alternatives.
• Help IT personnel determine their exact requirements and procedures.
• Develop detailed instructions for conversion and systems operations.
• Train users in proper implementation of the system.
• Provide user support for daily operations, including assisting users with problem resolution.
• Provide users with updated documentation when programming or procedural enhancements are made.
• Provide on call support for subject areas assigned.
• Responsible for creating system documentation for the various phases of SDLC.
• Work with outside vendors to appropriately support business needs.
• Complete all mandatory and regulatory training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: AS Degree or higher in Computer Information Systems or related field.
• Proficient in RPG and CL programming languages.
• Database management and concepts: DB2, SQL, Query.
• Intersystem connectivity: IFS, FTP, APIs.
• In-depth knowledge of IBM i operating system with an understanding of admin tools and commands.
• Strong diagnostic skills: Ability to research, troubleshoot, and logically determine solutions.
• Knowledge of mathematics, review/analysis procedures, and general data-processing operations.
• Tact and courtesy in dealing with individuals both inside and outside the Information Technology department.
• Ability to work with various operating systems in a distributed environment.
Nice-to-haves
• Minimum: 3 year experience as a programmer using RPG Programming in an AS/400 iSeries Environment.
• Experience integrating application systems with iSeries.
• Minimum: 1 year experience in the Software development life cycle.
• Must possess knowledge of security concepts applicable to this role and function.
Benefits
• Compensation: $71,315.40-$80,192.41 Annual.
