Overview: Completes operational tasks such as reporting and data input needs for planning, core banking, investments, and Trust advisement for prospects and clients. Assists Wealth Advisors and Senior Wealth Associates to provide support in the identification and expansion of business and ensure client satisfaction. As skills and knowledge build, this position has increased opportunities for direct client interaction. Primary Responsibilities: Assist the Wealth Advisor with operational support, inclusive of reporting that supports planning and investment needs to ensure client satisfaction. Leverage available internal and external resources, including fiduciary, planning, investment, and banking partners, as well as external accountants, attorneys, and other professionals to assist in resolving client-related issues and meeting client needs. Prepare targeted prospecting lists and other sales support to support an organized sales strategy and approach. Document the Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) with prospect, sales, client information and communication. Interact often with internal contacts and resources to accomplish goals. Develop, or aid in developing client meeting materials, under direction, to support business activities. Prepare annual Relationship Reviews to support identification of opportunities to develop and expand business and may present at internal committee meetings. Assist the Wealth Advisor by attending internal meetings to deepen knowledge of investments, core banking services, and Trust; take notes and highlight critical information as it pertains to client communication and servicing. As skills build, attend client meetings and take on more responsibilities involving direct client interaction. Support activities that lead to development of external centers of influence and represent the Firm’s expertise within the professional community to build a network of external referral partners. Gather data and prepare related materials to support these efforts. Complete all data input and reporting needs in a timely and accurate manner to support Wealth Management clients as it relates to planning, investments, and Trust activities. Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls following Company or regulatory standards and policies. Complete investment-related compliance reviews and any other compliance support that arises. Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including prompt implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Responsible for meeting and maintaining registration requirements under the Federal SAFE Act. Complete other related duties as assigned. Scope of Responsibilities: The Wealth Associate supports the Wealth Advisor to enable them to focus on the attraction and expansion of business and provide high client satisfaction. The position completes predominantly operational and reporting responsibilities and as skills and capabilities increase, assumes more direct client-facing responsibilities. This position develops a comprehensive understanding of the specialty areas (core banking, investments, planning and trust), as well as consultative and presentation skills to effectively grow into a Senior Wealth Associate and provide more comprehensive support for Wealth Management clients. The position serves as a liaison between Senior Wealth Advisors and all other internal service areas, such Investments, Trust, Private Banking, Wealth Planning, etc. to gather documents, and complete a wide variety of operational and reporting tasks to allow more senior jobs to focus on revenue generating activities. Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities: None Education and Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 5 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience Proven verbal and written communication skills Proven interpersonal skills Proven organizational skills Proven time management skills Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software Self-starter Prior experience managing multiple tasks Flexibility to take on a variety of tasks, where needed, and ability to function in rapidly changing, fluid environments Education and Experience Preferred: Minimum of 2 years’ financial services experience Experience with spreadsheet reporting Advanced spreadsheet skills M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $32.19 - $53.65 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
