We’re looking for a Quality Improvement Coordinator to join the Practice Transformation and Quality Improvement (PTQI) Team. In this role, you’ll support collaborative work groups of Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) focused on improving health outcomes and advancing equity. From follow-up after mental health hospitalization to reducing homelessness, these projects make a tangible impact on the lives of Washington residents.
What you’ll do:
• Provide technical assistance to MCOs and community partners on evidence-based quality improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate projects, track progress, and support reporting, data, and communications.
• Assist with planning and facilitating workgroup meetings, preparing materials, and maintaining SharePoint/Teams resources.
• Help develop communications or educational resources for patients, providers, or community partners.
• Integrate health equity and social determinants of health into all aspects of the work.

This non-permanent Health Services Consultant 1 position is anticipated to end 12 months from the hire date. As a result, this position is not eligible for a Department of Retirement Services benefit for the duration of the placement. There may be an exception for existing state employees. Location and Flexibility
We value work-life balance and offer the convenience of remote work! This position will give you the option to work from home or from the closest DOH facility. Attending in-person events or working In-office is rarely required and would be scheduled in advance. This is a remote home-based position available to applicants residing anywhere in Washington State.
Required Qualifications (you must meet ONE of the options provided and any additional criteria listed):
Experience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities.
Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.
Option 1: Five (5) or more years of experience in a health services or public health program with direct patient or community experience.
Option 2: An associates degree or higher in social services, public health, public administration, business administration, or a clinical or other related field and two (2) years of experience in a health services or public health program with direct patient or community experience.
Option 3: A bachelor’s degree or higher in social services, public health, public administration, business administration, communications and or other related field one (1) year of experience in a health services or public health program with direct patient or community experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• One (1) or more years of experience working with Medicaid.
• One (1) or more years working to support systemically oppressed, historically excluded communities
• Experience working in a large organization or state agency.
• Knowledge of population health, health disparities, and the impact of social determinants of health.
• Advanced level experience using Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, and OneNote.
• Experience preparing agendas, meeting materials, and slides for presentations.
• Proficient in taking meeting minutes

Conditions of Employment:
This position is covered by a bargaining unit for which the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) is the exclusive representative.
