Engineering Student Assistant- Traffic Accident Surveillance & Analysis (TASAS) Support (Hybrid)
About the position
Responsibilities
• Assist in reducing the TASAS inventory coding backlog by drawing ramp diagrams and managing files for As-Built Plans and Route History.
• Review project plans to code median barriers and lane numbers.
• Prepare data for updates in the Transportation System Network (TSN) and collect highway system data.
• Analyze and troubleshoot data migration errors within transportation engineering systems, focusing on the TSNR project.
• Extract and examine roadway inventory-related data to identify and resolve technical data quality issues.
• Perform quality assurance checks on transportation system data using engineering tools to ensure data accuracy and identify gaps or errors.
• Utilize automation tools, such as Python scripting, to streamline engineering data processing and reporting tasks.
Requirements
• Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term at an accredited college or university.
• Must be enrolled in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.
• Declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting (Civil Engineering, Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering).
• Must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
Nice-to-haves
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Python scripting.
• Proficient knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS) and ESRI software such as ArcGIS Pro, MicroStation, Civil 3D, Google Earth Pro and Road & Highway.
