About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Customer Development Manager to join our team, specializing in supporting a Top National Customer, specifically Costco. As the Insights and Analytics expert, you will utilize your analytical and thought leadership skills to execute category strategies that align with customer priorities. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in analyzing data, identifying opportunities, and making recommendations that drive category and customer growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage data sources to monitor the field execution of vendor programs and assortments, ensuring alignment with customer goals.
- Communicate complex and detailed information to multiple individuals and audiences with varying knowledge levels, both internally and externally.
- Stay informed of analytic best practices across the industry, providing effective information to deliver sales, margin, and market development goals.
- Analyze and report data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions, driving improvement of results and finding solutions that enhance customer satisfaction.
- Track category performance, including sales, profits, margins, and market share, to inform strategic decisions.
- Develop, communicate, execute, and monitor specific performance metrics and goals relevant to each business as part of regular, scheduled business reviews.
- Create and deliver effective reports using POS data, Syndicated Data, and account-specific database information in presentation-ready formats.
- Evaluate and make recommendations on supplier performance to enhance the company's inventory and fill rate objectives.
- Understand and apply customer, consumer, and industry insights using market research data to deliver category growth.
- Ensure superior client satisfaction by providing hands-on deep analytics and contributing to team problem-solving.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's Degree and experience within the CPG sector, with Adult Beverage experience being highly preferred. Previous experience working with Costco is a significant value add.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and quantitative analysis skills, with the ability to incorporate and interpret data from multiple unrelated data sources into concise, action-oriented recommendations.
- Understanding of National Chain Sales, Retail, and Distributor operations, with expertise in category management principles, syndicated data, and shopper/consumer insights (Numerator/Spectra, etc.).
- Ability to collaborate with external retail customers, key suppliers, and internal teams to deliver insights and recommendations.
- Assertive leadership and decision-making skills, with an aptitude for understanding changing market dynamics and resolving complex problems.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, with preferred experience working with Syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI), Internal Shipment Data, and Household Panel.
