About the position
Responsibilities
• Provide academic counseling for students pursuing or considering majors, minors, or certificates.
• Guide students in planning their course of study in accordance with departmental curricular requirements.
• Meet with students in groups and one-on-one to assist in academic program selection.
• Help students assess their interests and values in relation to major choice and career options.
• Teach students how to navigate university systems and academic processes.
• Track and monitor students' academic progress and maintain confidential records.
• Represent the advising function at campus meetings and recruiting events.
• Research and recommend best practices for academic advising initiatives.
Requirements
• Master's degree in a related field.
• 2 years of experience in student affairs, teaching, academic advising, or a related field.
• Proficient communication skills.
• Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in a student-focused, higher education environment is highly desired.
• 3 years of experience in student affairs, teaching, academic advising, or a related field.
